11 -> Thinking Allowed, conversations on the leading
16.078 -> edge of knowledge and discovery, with psychologist
21.48 -> Jeffrey Mishlove.
28.88 -> Hello and welcome.
30.4 -> I'm Emmy Vadnais, co-host with Jeffrey Mishlove.
34.72 -> Today we'll be focusing on a doctor who shares
38.192 -> psychic and spiritual stories of healing.
41.22 -> My guest is Rod Chelberg, a physician who has practiced medicine for over 25 years.
47.16 -> He was a medical director for a hospital, nursing homes, and hospice.
51.88 -> Now he is an adjunct faculty member in the
54.914 -> biomedical engineering program at the University
58.3 -> of Maine.
60.06 -> He also assists people with spiritual guidance,
63.549 -> lectures on topics of mysticism, and a course
66.82 -> in miracles.
68.42 -> He is author of When God Calls, Say Yes, A
72.493 -> Physician's Experience of Mystical Guidance.
76.66 -> Rod is located in Banger, Maine.
79.22 -> Now I'll switch over to the internet video.
84.06 -> Welcome Rod.
85.06 -> It's a pleasure to be with you on New Thinking Allowed today.
87.42 -> Hello, Emmy.
88.42 -> Thank you so much for having me on your New Thinking Allowed program.
93.38 -> This is really helping me to share my experiences
96.646 -> that are rather unique with a lot of people.
99.52 -> So I want to thank you for creating this program and again for having me on it.
104.46 -> You have been a physician for over 25 years.
107.78 -> In fact, you and I even share a background
110.673 -> of having worked at the same hospital, Abbott
113.7 -> Northwestern here in Minneapolis.
115.94 -> Correct.
116.94 -> Yes, I trained in internal medicine and ICU
120.923 -> medicine, hospital medicine at Abbott Northwestern.
125.54 -> That was back in 88 to 91.
128.5 -> So it's a nice hospital.
131.06 -> When did you first discover that you had psychic and spiritual gifts?
135.22 -> Well, it started after I had, in second grade,
138.494 -> I had a very bad strep infection that went
141.42 -> into my kidneys and shut it, shut my kidneys down.
145.34 -> So I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks.
148.5 -> And during that time, I had what's called a near-death experience.
152.38 -> I had an allergic reaction to penicillin, which was the antibiotic they were treating
156.86 -> me with.
158.34 -> And what happened was I stopped breathing.
160.26 -> My lungs just tightened up and I tightened up.
163.46 -> So at the moment, I was in second grade, about seven, eight years old.
168.46 -> And I started to close down.
170.94 -> Everything became black and I thought, I'm going to die.
174.1 -> And this fear of death came to me.
177.02 -> Well, everything became black.
179.1 -> I couldn't see anything.
181.26 -> What happened is this pinpoint of light came and the light started to get brighter.
186.7 -> I started to float up out of my body and go towards that light.
191.3 -> And it got brighter and brighter.
194.18 -> Fear left me and I was left with a feeling
196.565 -> like, I'm going home, I'm going back to where
199.06 -> I belong.
201.34 -> Halfway there, I was suddenly pulled back into my body and didn't know what happened.
206.86 -> But I started breathing again, started moving air.
211.14 -> It was the most profound experience that I had.
214.94 -> And I just thought it was a dream.
217.82 -> And I didn't realize that I had several divine gifts planted into me.
223.46 -> One of the gifts was the psychic ability that
227.347 -> they talk about of seeing colors on people.
230.98 -> So I could see three colors on your heart.
233.9 -> I could see red, green, and blue.
236.58 -> I didn't know what that meant and my friends certainly didn't see colors.
240.94 -> Later in life, I learned that red is divine love, blue is divine creativity, and green
246.9 -> is divine life.
248.78 -> So they're all aspects of the divine that I could see.
252.7 -> I didn't do anything with that gift for a long time.
255.14 -> I just let it go.
256.46 -> My friends didn't see them.
258.9 -> And they thought maybe I was a little crazy.
261.1 -> So being one that wants approval, I let them go.
266.14 -> The second gift that I was given was the ability
269.952 -> to leave my body at will and float up out.
273.22 -> And my first few trips were around the bedroom.
277.38 -> But then later I went around the farm.
280.46 -> And then finally, I found that I could travel
282.739 -> all the way to Paris, which is something I
284.82 -> wrote about in my book, that experience.
288.58 -> Again, at that time, after the Paris trip, I
291.958 -> suppressed that and stopped working with it.
295.26 -> That gift was going to reappear later in life.
298.58 -> Then the third gift I had was that feeling of oneness, connectivity.
303.54 -> There's something more to life than just this body.
307.46 -> And I experienced that in the near-death experience where I'm going home.
312.62 -> Now that I came back, I found that if I could
315.37 -> sit in the chair, I could recreate a lot of
317.94 -> this peace.
318.94 -> I didn't see the light, but I saw the peace.
322.82 -> Later in life, after some study and meditation, I went into that hole.
327.1 -> And we'll talk about that a little bit later.
329.9 -> But that was my first experience.
333.74 -> As I went through life, I got into medical school in 84, finished in 88.
341.98 -> I always had this feeling, starting an internship, of a presence.
347.26 -> There's a presence right here, and it's very comforting.
351.78 -> What was interesting is I started to see colors again.
355.7 -> I could see your heart, which is red, by the way.
359.82 -> I see green on me, but I could see colors on people.
364.42 -> And I thought that was interesting.
365.86 -> It's not everybody, but people who are very spiritual have colors with them.
372.14 -> Then I started to see auras on people, and I thought, this is interesting.
377.34 -> What is this?
378.34 -> I had no idea.
379.34 -> And I could see black, I could see light gray, white, and clear.
386.34 -> One time, I was at a theater with my wife, and we were in the theater watching this.
392.06 -> I was being a little cocky, and I said, you see that guy over there?
394.86 -> She goes, yeah.
395.86 -> I said, he's got a black aura.
397.7 -> He's going to die in six months.
400.38 -> She grabbed my arm and said, that's my uncle.
402.38 -> Oh, my gosh.
404.06 -> And I went, good one, Rod.
407.22 -> After that, I decided not to tell people anymore when I saw that.
410.74 -> But it became a very nice guide in medicine,
413.329 -> because I could tell when somebody was going
415.86 -> to leave, because I would see that black aura.
419.62 -> So that was the first thing that I started noticing, coming back to me, is seeing the
425.82 -> colors.
427.66 -> In the ICU, where I trained, I could always tell when somebody was going to leave.
435.7 -> Somebody's on a ventilator.
436.9 -> I have them on life-saving medicines, antibiotics.
440.86 -> There's this man.
441.86 -> I don't know his name, but he was in the throes
446.169 -> of death, and he had multi-system failure.
449.94 -> And I looked at him, and his entire body was covered in that black shroud.
455.58 -> And I started to see him, his white spiritual aura, say, I want to go.
464.5 -> How does that happen?
466.66 -> I don't know.
467.66 -> I didn't know at the time.
469.1 -> I ended up extubating him after I talked to the family.
472.38 -> We're all in agreement.
473.38 -> We extubated him, stopped all the medicine, and he had a very smooth transition.
479.14 -> So the first sense that I got after that near-death
482.835 -> experience and later in life is being able
485.82 -> to feel a presence, starting to hear, starting
488.704 -> to see that they came a little bit later.
491.22 -> But this is the early stages of knowing that
493.711 -> there's more to life than just you and me
495.98 -> looking at each other.
498.1 -> That's what I was starting to experience in my first year.
501.98 -> So as I went along, then it got a little more interesting.
507.5 -> I always had this strong intuition.
509.78 -> I always knew what was wrong with people.
512.74 -> One man came into an urgent care that I was working at, and he had abdominal pain, and
518.58 -> he was really angry.
519.58 -> And I thought, well, this is interesting.
522.78 -> So I asked him what was wrong, and he told me about his abdominal pain.
525.38 -> He'd seen all these doctors and
527.158 -> specialists, and nobody could figure it out.
529.74 -> I said, hmm, lay down on the table, and I
532.68 -> took my finger, and I was guided by intuition.
535.9 -> I put it into his belly button, and I pushed
538.684 -> up, and he came flying off the table just
541.22 -> screaming in pain.
542.66 -> He said, what did you do?
544.94 -> And I said, well, sit down.
546.98 -> I said, you have a ventral hernia, and your gut is starting to tear apart.
551.56 -> You need what's called a mesh.
554.14 -> He got mad and argued, I've seen all these doctors.
556.42 -> So I put my finger back in and pushed.
558.98 -> He began to scream.
559.98 -> He says, okay, stop doing that.
561.86 -> And I said, okay, stop arguing with me.
564.74 -> So he went back.
565.74 -> A couple weeks later, he'd seen this doctor.
568.26 -> Sure enough, he had a ventral hernia that was repaired.
571.9 -> So you're starting off gradually with a feeling
574.509 -> of presence, and then you're starting to get
576.9 -> this subtle intuition where I know beyond a shadow of a doubt what's wrong with you.
584.76 -> In time, as I continue to work in the ER, these
588.879 -> are a lot of times life and death situations.
592.74 -> This is when the voice is the clearest to me.
596.44 -> This man was brought in, and this doctor called
599.974 -> me and said he had a colonoscopy yesterday,
603.14 -> and he's lightheaded.
604.14 -> He fell down.
605.38 -> I said, just can you give him some fluids and tank him up?
607.46 -> I said, sure, that sounds really easy.
610.22 -> So I brought the man in.
611.22 -> He's happy.
612.22 -> He's chatty.
613.22 -> His wife is there.
614.22 -> Everybody's, oh, this is easy.
615.22 -> We'll give him a liter of fluids.
617.46 -> So I gave him the fluids, and his pressure, when I initially checked him, he was 70.
622.3 -> That's critical.
623.3 -> No wonder he's passing out.
624.82 -> The pressure should be about 120.
627.9 -> So I gave him a liter of fluids, and his pressure went up.
631.22 -> Beautiful.
632.3 -> And all of a sudden, it went down.
635.7 -> Now, something's wrong, and the voice, the
639.296 -> divine voice, I'm getting comfortable hearing
643.06 -> this voice very clearly telling me what to
647.093 -> do, and the voice said, look in his eyelids.
651.22 -> Now, this is a test we generally don't do, but this is it right there.
656.86 -> It was sheet white.
658.82 -> The next thing the voice said is do a trauma
663.927 -> CT scan on this man, and by the way, run.
668.58 -> I don't have any clue, but I just ordered
670.902 -> this, and the nurses and people and the patient
673.5 -> are looking at me, what is wrong with you?
677.18 -> We ran down the hall and got into radiology.
681.34 -> We did the trauma CT scan.
682.82 -> They took him back.
684.54 -> We don't know what Chelberg's thinking, but obviously, there's something going on.
688.86 -> So I look at the CT with the radiologist.
691.78 -> He said, there's nothing here, and I said, really?
695.02 -> What's all this light gray stuff?
697.5 -> He goes, that's blood.
699.68 -> He scanned, and he found that the patient had a ruptured spleen, and it was cracked
704.82 -> in half.
705.82 -> He's dying literally in front of us.
708.38 -> We have maybe half an hour at best.
712.34 -> So I ran back into the ER.
713.9 -> We got blood going.
715.46 -> I called the trauma surgeon, took out his spleen, saved his life.
722.22 -> So these are the kind of stories.
726.38 -> It's not just limited to the ER, but I'll keep my stories in this realm.
732.82 -> One more.
733.82 -> A 40-year-old woman comes in, and she was in the garden planting, having a great day,
740.86 -> had the bib overalls on, typical manor, and covered in mud, happy.
745.7 -> But she started having point tenderness right here on her rib.
749.94 -> And she thought, I don't know, but I think I'm going to call 911.
753.3 -> So she did.
754.74 -> The paramedics get there, and they're talking to her, and she's laughing.
758.3 -> It just hurts when I press right there.
760.26 -> Okay, well, let's, you know, you call this.
762.82 -> Let's just take you to the ER.
765.1 -> So everybody comes in.
766.1 -> They're laughing and joking.
767.1 -> No big deal.
768.1 -> And the nurse says, well, she's gardening.
770.34 -> She's got a pulled chest muscle.
772.18 -> She probably tore it, popped a rib.
774.7 -> So everybody's getting happy, and Christ, in
777.824 -> that moment, said, tell the ambulance crew
780.74 -> to stop.
781.98 -> Do not leave.
782.98 -> They did not do a heart tracing like they're supposed to do.
787.14 -> They stopped.
788.14 -> I said, do not leave.
789.94 -> And then I told the nurse, I said, do a stat EKG right now.
794.78 -> And they're all looking at me like, what is wrong with you?
797.4 -> She has no cardiac symptoms, no risk factors.
800.64 -> She looks great.
801.64 -> Why are you doing this?
803.08 -> And I said, because.
805.28 -> Just do it.
806.72 -> So they did the 12 lead, and I looked at it.
810.36 -> And this is one of the most lethal looking EKGs that you can see.
814.04 -> It's called a tombstone EKG.
816.88 -> There's no more QRS complex.
818.64 -> It's all like the old cemetery tombstones.
822.12 -> I've got 90 minutes now to keep this woman alive.
826.24 -> So I showed it to all the nurses and the paramedics.
829.52 -> Got rid of the laughter.
830.52 -> We started the rescue medicines and the rescue protocols.
834.6 -> She was taken to Eastern Maine, the trauma center, and ended up having bypass surgery.
840.84 -> Saved her life.
842.88 -> Didn't do any labs, didn't do any real exam, except I touched her chest.
846.6 -> But immediately, I was guided, do a 12 lead, tell them to stay.
851.6 -> And it saved her life.
853.84 -> So that's just one of many stories that I can share with you.
858.56 -> But it's about during this growing process, you first feel, then you hear.
865.64 -> The next sense that comes along is the ability to see.
869.84 -> And by that I mean, I see you, but in certain
872.988 -> cases, I could see what was wrong inside the
876 -> body.
877.76 -> So for example, this young 13-year-old lady
880.855 -> was brought in by mom with right lower quadrant
884.16 -> pain.
885.6 -> And she was seen in another ER and put on antibiotics and said, well, you just have
889.36 -> a pelvic infection.
891.44 -> And the mother said, can you do a second opinion?
894 -> And in that instant, I'm listening to the mother, but I could see the appendix and it
898.56 -> was inflamed, ready to burst.
901.98 -> When you burst an appendix, you've got purulent material into the abdomen.
907.62 -> And now it's a fight to keep you alive, like to avoid that.
912.78 -> I did the CT scan and sure enough, she had acute appendicitis.
916.86 -> And we immediately got the surgeon involved.
919.82 -> If I had sent her home, and that had ruptured,
923.095 -> I have taken care of people who have had acute
926.3 -> appendicitis and it ruptured.
928.86 -> That's a lot of work to keep them alive in the
931.773 -> ICU because you get a belly full of infected
934.5 -> material.
937.02 -> There's a story.
940.94 -> This lady later after ER, I was doing hospice work.
947.98 -> I'm going to go off on a tangent if you don't mind for a second.
950.94 -> But she had metastatic pancreatic cancer and decided that's it, I'm done.
958.62 -> I started to talk to her.
960.46 -> I went to her house, talked to her, talked to her family.
964.14 -> And I started to see into her this big black area.
968.86 -> I could see the cancer and I could see it upward through her whole body.
973.7 -> So we talked about that scene.
978.86 -> You get this secondary vision, I call it spiritual
982.658 -> vision, but it's up here where I see things
985.9 -> that's superimposed on somebody.
989.82 -> And my greatest example that is kind of, it's in my book.
998.02 -> People have probably heard this story before,
1000.377 -> but an 80-year-old lady came in and she was
1002.58 -> in cardiac arrest.
1004.78 -> We were doing CPR on her.
1007.82 -> I took over the care of this lady, ran the code for another 20 minutes, and she was in
1012.86 -> a systole flatline for about 20 minutes.
1018.02 -> I called the code and I said, she's done, she's out of here.
1022.54 -> And it's been my habit in the ICU and in treating
1025.361 -> with patients, especially at the end of their
1027.9 -> life, I like to hold their hand up to my chest.
1032.14 -> And I was raised Catholic, so I would do the Lord's Prayer.
1036.66 -> My thought as a physician, my last job is to
1040.199 -> pray for this person and ask on their behalf
1044.58 -> that they be taken home to heaven, the divine,
1047.41 -> whatever you want to call it, but lifted out
1050.06 -> of this realm.
1051.74 -> Well, that was always a very pleasant thing
1054.825 -> to do, and I always ask permission first with
1057.98 -> the family, if they're around.
1060.78 -> So I studied A Course in Miracles for quite
1063.85 -> some time and did meditation, started to learn
1067.06 -> to quiet my mind.
1069.86 -> On this particular case, it was very profound for me.
1072.7 -> I said, I wonder what will happen if I ask
1075.231 -> Christ to come, because the Course is always
1077.82 -> saying that.
1079.1 -> Well, in that instant, the entire ER turned to white light, scintillating white light.
1086.74 -> Her aura left her body.
1088.86 -> She sat up, and as clear as I can see you, only you're all white, glasses.
1095.1 -> And she looked at me and said, thank you.
1098.98 -> On the left side, this brilliant red bead of light came and took and melded with her
1106.18 -> and they became one.
1108.98 -> Then they went across my visual field, and I
1111.844 -> looked over on this side, on my right side,
1114.58 -> and there was these beautiful golden doors that opened up, and they went up into this,
1120.42 -> and these beautiful arms came out and just brought them all in, and the doors shut.
1126.7 -> I was stunned.
1129.3 -> What was that?
1130.58 -> And I felt tremendous love, tremendous peace,
1134.133 -> and I decided, I just witnessed the birth
1137.3 -> into heaven of this individual, and it's what I
1140.752 -> could think of, because I've delivered babies.
1144.86 -> This is infinitely more pleasant to me.
1148.46 -> That has become, for me, I call it the process
1151.924 -> birthing into heaven, and I have seen this
1155.02 -> so many times when my dad died, when this lady Polly died, when Sandy died, a patient
1162.34 -> died of a suicide, a patient died of a car accident.
1167.5 -> Every time that I have called, that divine
1170.882 -> love has come, and I get to see this beautiful
1174.78 -> merging just going off.
1178.46 -> So spiritual sight is what you're starting to gain as you get closer and closer, and
1185.9 -> we can go on with lots of examples of that.
1189.46 -> Those are incredible stories.
1192.58 -> How do you feel you started having these
1195.841 -> experiences, or why do you think this naturally
1201.22 -> started to evolve for you?
1203.7 -> I shut it down in second grade out of fear of rejection from my friends.
1211.58 -> The reason it came back is because I started to study spiritual literature.
1217.38 -> I was reading the Bible, Silent Unity, Eckhart
1220.43 -> Tolle, and then I got hooked on A Course in
1223.22 -> Miracles, which is an independent self-study course.
1227.62 -> It's not a religion, it's just a course.
1230.86 -> Then I remembered, oh yeah, meditation.
1233.74 -> I really enjoyed that, so I would read literally
1237.234 -> four hours on Sundays and then meditate for
1240.3 -> an hour.
1241.7 -> I learned to quiet my mind, and that's very
1245.161 -> important on this process, to quiet your mind
1249.1 -> because then the divine can speak to you.
1253.22 -> In all these situations and stories I've told
1256.172 -> you, what I didn't tell you is in all of them
1259.06 -> I learned to be very quiet, so when I'm praying,
1262.234 -> I'm quieting my mind, and I'm allowing that
1265.02 -> divine to come through.
1268.02 -> In crisis situations, a man comes in.
1273.02 -> He was involved in a motor vehicle accident, and
1275.46 -> he's all banged up, and it's frantic activity
1277.7 -> like you see on TV, all the drama and insanity.
1282.62 -> I'm the conductor of all this.
1284.02 -> I stand at the foot of the bed and tell people what to do and whatnot.
1289.02 -> I'm looking at this man, and I make it my habit now just to move this way.
1295.42 -> Right here is an empty spot, and I say, that's
1298.679 -> where God is, and then I say, what does God
1301.66 -> have to say?
1302.66 -> It would immediately say, we are peace.
1306.58 -> This man is going to be fine, and the whole ER would just settle down.
1310.66 -> It's the most amazing thing to see and feel the insanity of the noise just quiets down,
1318.06 -> and we're having a nice civil conversation like this while the patient picks up.
1323.78 -> If they're not upset and afraid, what do I have to be afraid of?
1328.78 -> I always make it a point of touching someone's
1331.845 -> hand and just telling them everything's fine,
1334.78 -> and that divine love just flows through.
1339.78 -> The Course in Miracles was the stepping stone
1342.934 -> for me to unlearn what I was taught, to learn
1346.02 -> that there's more to life than just the body.
1349.74 -> Meditation allowed me to quiet my mind so that I could hear the divine.
1354.74 -> It's very important that you have to create
1357.706 -> a quiet time, because if you just chat, chat,
1360.74 -> chat, chat, chat, and chat, chat, chat, God's going, what can I do?
1364.74 -> I can't talk to you, and it's really scary sometimes.
1369.74 -> There was a lady who came in with a very rapid
1373.918 -> heart rate, and she was very uncomfortable,
1377.78 -> not having a heart attack, but just a very rapid heart rate.
1380.78 -> So we said, okay, I put her to sleep, and I
1384.128 -> gave her a drug that literally stops your heart.
1387.78 -> Now, that gets interesting. I'm going to stop your heart now so it can reset itself.
1392.78 -> So we gave her the drug, and we're watching
1395.224 -> the monitor. It shuts down. She's in asystole.
1397.78 -> Normally, people wake up at 10 seconds, 15 seconds.
1402.82 -> At 15 seconds, she's still flatline. Now we're starting to get twitchy.
1407.82 -> At 20 seconds, she started to come back and
1411.097 -> immediately went back into this super-fast rhythm.
1414.82 -> I said, well, the voice said, okay, double the dose.
1419.82 -> I'm like, okay. She was in asystole for a long time.
1426.82 -> I told the nurse, double the dose. Let's try it again.
1430.86 -> I have to understand there's family members, there's
1433.699 -> nurses, and they're like, are you sure you want to do this?
1436.86 -> But I felt that presence or security of knowing
1440.552 -> when you hear that voice, there's no doubt.
1445.86 -> She got the dose, and she's now at 20 seconds, she's still in asystole.
1451.86 -> We're getting real twitchy, and the nurse is saying, Rod, you've got to do something.
1456.9 -> I said, I am. I'm doing nothing. It didn't go over real well.
1461.9 -> At 30 seconds, boom, her heart rate came back into perfect normal sinus rhythm.
1466.9 -> We woke her up, and she said, that was the most pleasant experience I've ever had.
1472.9 -> I said, yeah, we stopped your heart for 30 seconds.
1476.9 -> The husband was pacing, the nurses were pacing.
1479.869 -> I'm just, that's all right, don't worry about it.
1482.94 -> Learning to quiet your mind and listen and to be at peace
1488.94 -> in pretty dire circumstances, pretty amazing.
1493.94 -> But you get very comfortable. The more you
1496.906 -> practice this and do it, the easier it gets.
1499.94 -> This woman said that it was the most pleasant experience she had.
1503.94 -> Did she elaborate on her experience?
1507.98 -> We assumed that it was medications that I used to put you to sleep,
1513.98 -> but I knew she connected with the divine and felt that divine presence.
1519.98 -> She had a glow about her, that her aura
1522.361 -> changed from kind of dark to a bright white.
1524.98 -> I knew that she was touched. She didn't talk about a near-death experience,
1530.98 -> but that doesn't matter. She's still in that quiet state.
1536.02 -> There's no heartbeat that really shuts your
1538.921 -> brain down. It allows your mind to be expanded.
1542.02 -> Everybody attributed it to the drugs, but I knew
1545.52 -> it was the drugs and being touched by the divine.
1549.02 -> That's like extreme meditation, and these are tricks you can't try at home.
1555.02 -> No, no, I would not suggest that.
1559.02 -> Some of the criticism of psychic gifts are that people are simply hallucinating.
1565.06 -> When you talk about hearing voices, how do you distinguish what is Christ or God
1570.06 -> versus maybe just your own mind speaking to you?
1574.06 -> That's actually a good question and a very simple answer.
1580.06 -> People would come in and say, I'm hearing voices and I'm seeing God.
1586.06 -> They're crazy. They're schizophrenic. We tend to lock them up.
1590.06 -> The difference is the voices are telling them to hurt people.
1594.1 -> The voices are misleading. When the divine speaks,
1598.1 -> you know there is no doubt in your mind.
1602.1 -> If there's doubt, should I buy this car or should I not? That's ego.
1606.1 -> When the divine talks, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt.
1611.1 -> You're given the strength to order labs that people think,
1615.1 -> why are you doing this? Why are you doing it that way?
1619.14 -> Once you've had that experience of I know,
1623.14 -> that revelation of I know, the doubt is gone.
1627.14 -> You will never ask this question again.
1631.14 -> It gets that strong.
1635.14 -> For you, you had many opportunities to listen to that voice
1639.14 -> or to those feelings and intuition and then acted out
1643.14 -> based on your own medical background and training
1647.18 -> and clinical judgment and then those experiences
1651.18 -> validated for you and they proved to you that they were legitimate.
1655.18 -> Correct. I learned that I could trust this voice
1659.18 -> and that I wasn't crazy.
1663.18 -> It is difficult to order an EKG on a woman
1667.18 -> that has no true cardiac symptoms.
1671.18 -> It's difficult to order a cardiac enzyme on a kid.
1675.22 -> But, when God tells me to do something, I do it. There is no doubt in your mind.
1679.22 -> How do you define or describe God?
1683.22 -> That's impossible.
1687.22 -> How do you describe the infinite?
1691.22 -> When I'm in that space,
1695.22 -> I am a thought. I'm no longer a concept of a body.
1699.22 -> There's no time. There's no space. There's just infinite mind.
1703.26 -> I am in that. What I feel is tremendous love.
1707.26 -> Tremendous quiet. Tremendous peace.
1711.26 -> The only word in the English language is awe.
1715.26 -> Probably the best I can do.
1719.26 -> At that line of spirituality and humanity, it's like oil and water.
1723.26 -> They just don't mix. So you have unlimited, infinite love
1727.26 -> which is what you really are, putting limits on it in the form of a body
1731.3 -> and words. It just doesn't work.
1735.3 -> I can use all the adjectives I want, and they're all wrong.
1739.3 -> You have a different definition of love
1741.205 -> than I do. You've had different experiences.
1743.3 -> God, the divine, is one.
1747.3 -> I am one. I and my Father are one.
1751.3 -> So look at it this way.
1755.3 -> I have eaten an orange. You have not.
1759.34 -> I'm trying to tell you how wonderful it is to eat an orange. It's sweet. It's juicy.
1763.34 -> It's got this pretty color, especially when it's cool.
1767.34 -> You're going, right, that's really nice. Now you bite that orange and go,
1771.34 -> I really like this. Now we have a shared language
1775.34 -> of I know. I have the experience.
1779.34 -> I can do the best I can talking to you about the experience.
1783.34 -> But unless you've been in that state,
1787.38 -> you won't understand. And that's where science and spirituality
1791.38 -> kind of go bang. If you're on one side or the other,
1795.38 -> many people now are starting to ascend and wake up.
1799.38 -> They have the ability to cross that bridge and go into spirituality
1803.38 -> and then come back into this. But awe is probably the best
1807.38 -> word I can give you. It's just not possible to
1811.38 -> define the infinite.
1815.42 -> When we are in the ICU or helping people now,
1819.42 -> you know when that presence arrives for you and you can listen to it
1823.42 -> and trust it. Correct.
1827.42 -> The presence is always there.
1831.42 -> Do I listen to it? That's the question.
1835.42 -> And when I'm in the ICU, that's when I make this decision that I'm going to be quiet
1839.42 -> now and stop thinking and just allow.
1843.46 -> I'm going to get my ego out of the way and just allow.
1847.46 -> In essence, I'm going to step back and let divine power go in front of me.
1851.46 -> As I get older, I walk in that presence all the time
1855.46 -> and it just makes everything peaceful.
1859.46 -> But initially, it's practice. I have to ask.
1863.46 -> Did you want to tell your wallet story?
1867.46 -> It's just a story where I couldn't find my wallet
1871.5 -> and I asked the Divine and he said, "it's upstairs from yesterday".
1875.5 -> So it doesn't always have to be trauma. It can be simple things.
1879.5 -> Right. Simple practical applications.
1883.5 -> God is always talking to me. He's always available.
1887.5 -> And if I learn to listen, he'll guide me to what I need.
1891.5 -> You yourself had a health event
1895.5 -> that affected your ability actually to practice as a physician.
1899.54 -> Correct, in 2016, I had a massive stroke.
1907.54 -> I was driving from one nursing home to another and the whole world tipped.
1911.54 -> And I went from the right lane to the left lane and hit the rumble strip.
1915.54 -> And what was that?
1919.54 -> So I drove to work. I thought it was a low blood sugar.
1923.54 -> By the time I got to work, I couldn't walk very well. I couldn't talk.
1927.58 -> This left arm was hanging at my side.
1931.58 -> And my nurse said, I think you're having a stroke.
1935.58 -> And all I could do is nod my head because I know the signs and symptoms of a stroke.
1939.58 -> And I could see the progression.
1943.58 -> Anyway, I got into the ER and they did a CT scan
1947.58 -> and found that I had what's called a pontine stroke.
1951.58 -> So at the very top of your spinal cord, there's the brain stem.
1955.62 -> And what you've got, like a crystal ball, is your pons.
1959.62 -> So you've got this part of your brain as a computer and the back of your brain
1963.62 -> is another computer. And they hook together in the pons.
1967.62 -> So a very critical area got hit.
1971.62 -> Now, I was in a window where they give this medication called TPA.
1975.62 -> It's a clot-busting medicine.
1979.62 -> I'm in bed. My right side is now paralyzed.
1983.66 -> My left face is just hanging and I'm drooling.
1987.66 -> I've got PoTS (Postural tachycardia syndrome) for a while.
1991.66 -> So the nurse came in. First, the doctor came in.
1995.66 -> He said, your labs are all fine. And he told me what the labs were.
1999.66 -> Well, my blood count was not fine.
2003.66 -> My blood count was 18. It should be normal.
2007.66 -> My blood count was 11. Critical is 8.
2011.7 -> Where did all that blood go? That's 1 to 2 quarts of blood.
2015.7 -> I knew at that point, I was on a medication
2019.7 -> for arthritis, for osteoarthritis, and they cause
2023.7 -> ulcers and you bleed. You bleed internally, slowly.
2027.7 -> I knew I had an ulcer and the ER doctor
2031.7 -> never did a rectal exam to check for blood.
2035.7 -> So he told the neurologist, everything's fine.
2039.74 -> I ordered TPA and I went, big mistake.
2043.74 -> So the nurse said, this is really going to make you feel good.
2047.74 -> I'll bet. And I can't talk and say
2051.74 -> you're making a mistake. I know I'm bleeding
2055.74 -> and you just gave me a Major League blood thinner.
2059.74 -> What do you think that's going to do to a bleed? It's going to accelerate it.
2063.74 -> In my experience, I've had people die giving TPA.
2067.78 -> So it's a scary high-risk drug.
2071.78 -> I'm laying there and I thought, there's nothing I can do.
2075.78 -> So I just surrendered and I relaxed and I said, okay,
2079.78 -> if I'm going to die, I'm going to die in the next 10 minutes.
2083.78 -> So I started to watch the clock.
2087.78 -> And at 2 minutes, the entire ER turned into scintillating
2091.78 -> beautiful white light. It was just very pleasant.
2095.82 -> And I thought to myself, if this is what it's like to die, this is really nice.
2099.82 -> It's so peaceful and comforting.
2103.82 -> It stayed in white light for 8 minutes because I was watching the clock.
2107.82 -> Then a voice came and said, you are protected.
2111.82 -> You will go home. And I agreed with that voice
2115.82 -> and I said, in my mind, it is my intention to walk out of this
2119.82 -> hospital tomorrow. That was my intention.
2123.86 -> I did not have a massive bleed. I survived that.
2127.86 -> Later in the evening, I started walking and the nurses
2131.86 -> didn't want me to walk. So I kept hitting the alarm button every 15 minutes.
2135.86 -> And my speech came back. I started walking.
2139.86 -> They're going, that's not possible. Then I said,
2143.86 -> I want to be discharged tomorrow. They said, that's not possible.
2147.86 -> It works very well just to keep hitting the alarm buttons.
2151.9 -> They get annoyed. I was discharged the next day.
2155.9 -> I still had deficits, but I felt so
2159.9 -> free and liberated. I was touched again by the divine.
2163.9 -> I knew I was divinely protected. I got to see it
2167.9 -> with that spiritual vision as white light.
2171.9 -> It took 3 years to recover. I lost my memory, my ability to calculate.
2175.9 -> I still had profound weakness on my right side.
2179.94 -> I did the rehab and the training, but after 2 years
2183.94 -> of not practicing medicine, the medical board said, what are we
2187.94 -> going to do with you? I decided to retire my license because I didn't
2191.94 -> trust my memory. I kept writing the wrong
2195.94 -> when I did practice writing scripts, they were wrong.
2199.94 -> I thought, I don't want to hurt somebody by giving them too much of a medicine.
2203.94 -> So I retired my license. I now
2207.98 -> call this a stroke of good luck. What it has allowed me to do
2211.98 -> is to write this book and start reaching out, talking
2215.98 -> to people about these experiences, helping other doctors
2219.98 -> who have had these similar problems or
2223.98 -> quote "problems". I'm not crazy. What I saw maybe is real.
2227.98 -> Now I'm doing podcasts
2231.98 -> with people like you helping me. I'm coming out of the spiritual
2236.02 -> closet, as they say. I've self-diagnosed myself
2240.02 -> as having divine schizophrenia because I see and hear
2244.02 -> what other people don't and I'm okay with it. I totally
2248.02 -> trust the beauty of what I'm seeing and I'm comfortable
2252.02 -> seeing people who have passed away. I'm comfortable
2256.02 -> seeing orbs. I'm comfortable with all of it.
2260.02 -> Anything we can do to decrease the fear in people
2264.06 -> if they're sick or whatever problem, if they're dying, and bring them
2268.06 -> peace. That's our job. That's what we're doing now.
2272.06 -> That's my job. So I tell people I work for God now.
2276.06 -> Not only did you have a
2280.06 -> significant stroke, you were bleeding
2284.06 -> and then you were given a medication to have you actually
2288.06 -> essentially bleed more
2292.1 -> and it was as though you had a miracle
2296.1 -> happen where you had three strikes against
2300.1 -> you, major ones, and then you were able to walk out of the hospital.
2304.1 -> Yes. That medicine is called a clot buster.
2308.1 -> I had a blood clot, an embolic stuck in my blood
2312.1 -> vessels. This medicine dissolves
2316.1 -> them, which is great, but it
2320.14 -> also dissolves the clotting factors that keep you from bleeding.
2324.14 -> Why didn't I bleed to death?
2328.14 -> I should have. Yeah.
2332.14 -> I had a colonoscopy several weeks later and I did have a bleed.
2336.14 -> I had a bleeding ulcer and they burned it with a laser.
2340.14 -> And they're like, you should be dead.
2344.14 -> It was like a half inch ulcer. It's a good size.
2348.18 -> Your cognition, from what I can tell, having a
2352.18 -> conversation with you seems quite intact.
2354.111 -> Have you found that your memory has returned?
2356.18 -> Most of it. I was in
2360.18 -> the hospital the other day and this man walked
2364.18 -> up to me and I started to get excited. I said, I know you.
2368.18 -> I know I know you, but I don't know your name.
2372.18 -> He looks at me and goes, Rod, it's Bob Craven. We worked together
2376.22 -> for three years. I went, now I
2380.22 -> know you. So a lot of the brain is plastic and it
2384.22 -> can remodel and reheal and create new connections. So there was
2388.22 -> a dead spot over here and the memory associated
2392.22 -> with it came back. So right now
2396.22 -> it's almost 100%. My speech is much clearer.
2400.22 -> I can calculate and write the right prescriptions.
2404.26 -> I'm just past the window of going back in.
2408.26 -> I chose a new career path. Yeah, definitely.
2412.26 -> Just to be clear, people who typically have the kind of stroke you had,
2416.26 -> what percentage tend to make a full recovery from that type
2420.26 -> of stroke? It all comes down to timing. You've got three
2424.26 -> hours. That's it. If it's past three hours,
2428.26 -> the medicine won't work. So adjacent to me was a
2432.3 -> 55-year-old man who also had a pontine stroke
2436.3 -> and waited too long.
2440.3 -> He was permanently paralyzed on his right side. They were
2444.3 -> talking about breathing assist, nursing home for the rest of his life.
2448.3 -> So you don't have a lot of time.
2452.3 -> Three hours is about it to make this work.
2456.3 -> A lot of people think it's a low blood sugar or I'm tired
2460.34 -> and they don't realize how bad this can be.
2464.34 -> In addition to connecting with God, Christ,
2468.34 -> do you also experience angels?
2472.34 -> I do. I see in my mind archangels Raphael, Uriel,
2484.34 -> Michael. I've seen Mother Mary in Christ.
2488.38 -> Sometimes I've seen Gabriel. That was a long time ago.
2492.38 -> Usually it's Raphael, Michael, and Uriel.
2496.38 -> Those are the angels I see. I have not seen
2500.38 -> other angels, but I have seen orbs
2504.38 -> around people. I know those are thoughts of love. Those are thoughts
2508.38 -> of angels. I have seen deceased
2512.38 -> loved ones come back. For example, my dad
2516.42 -> died and I was there at the bedside.
2520.42 -> There were seven white, different height,
2524.42 -> auras there. I thought, who are you guys?
2528.42 -> Well, for just a moment, the tallest one, I said,
2532.42 -> that's Uncle Vernon. This is your family. They've all come back to help
2536.42 -> you cross over and transition back into love.
2540.42 -> After Dad transitioned, I was reading A Course
2544.46 -> in Miracles, I rest in God, and I saw his aura
2548.46 -> standing right next to me. He was radiant with joy
2552.46 -> and just gave me so much joy. I wasn't sad anymore. I was so
2556.46 -> happy. Loved ones
2560.46 -> in the nursing homes or in hospice that die, I've seen
2564.46 -> spouses come back, their husband or their wife.
2568.46 -> There's a young woman, maybe not young,
2572.5 -> she's in her 60s. She died of a brain cancer.
2576.5 -> I was with her and I said, how come you're not going
2580.5 -> home? She said, because I'm waiting for my mom and dad.
2584.5 -> I don't want them to get lost, so I'm going to wait
2588.5 -> here. They had their 95th birthday
2592.5 -> not too long ago, but there's no concept of time
2596.5 -> in the eternal. There's other stories,
2600.54 -> but I think you get the point that angels are all around
2604.54 -> us. They're in the form of loved ones, they're in the
2608.54 -> form of divine spirit, divine Christ, whatever you want
2612.54 -> to call it, Buddha. I just grew up in a traditional
2616.54 -> Catholic religion, so that's my frame of reference.
2620.54 -> But you're always surrounded by love.
2624.54 -> It's just we can't see them.
2628.58 -> You have also been a medical director in nursing homes and hospice.
2632.58 -> What are some of the experiences you've had there with
2636.58 -> people who are at end of life?
2640.58 -> This may sound really bad, but I think my worst day I had
2644.58 -> five people die on me in one day. It's like, what
2648.58 -> kind of a doctor are you?
2652.58 -> What's nice is at the end of life
2656.62 -> I can tell the transition, how fast they're
2660.62 -> transitioning, a lot of medical things.
2664.62 -> I've seen a lot of people leave and it's always with divine
2668.62 -> love. There was a lady, 93,
2672.62 -> that was starting the spiral of death process. She had pneumonia
2676.62 -> and the family was torn apart.
2680.62 -> I said, let's just do a Hail Mary pass. We're going to give antibiotics
2684.66 -> steroids and inhalers. I said, if you don't
2688.66 -> do this, this is going to haunt you the rest of your life. We should have
2692.66 -> done this. We should have done that. Anything I can do to decrease the fear
2696.66 -> in the family and then in the patient is what I do.
2700.66 -> The next day it was clear that she wasn't going to make it, so we
2704.66 -> stopped everything. She left it too in that afternoon.
2708.66 -> It is really important to be at peace when you
2712.7 -> pass away. All these people that have died,
2716.7 -> I made sure they were comfortable.
2720.7 -> I would invite chaplains in, rabbis, friends,
2724.7 -> and the loved one felt that support.
2728.7 -> They had peace. My job is to say
2732.7 -> okay, I asked for divine help. The divine help always comes.
2736.7 -> You can ask for that for a loved one.
2740.74 -> Please help my friend
2744.74 -> be at peace and go home. We can all do that.
2748.74 -> We're taught to go to church and pray, but it's in your heart.
2752.74 -> You let that love out.
2756.74 -> That same methodology works
2760.74 -> in every situation. It doesn't matter if it's a bad person
2764.74 -> or a good person. Once that body is laid
2768.78 -> down and they're at peace, they return to their divine essence
2772.78 -> of love. We just want them to go home.
2776.78 -> I did nursing home as a medical director for
2780.78 -> four or five years, beacon, hospice,
2784.78 -> almost two years. I made it a point
2788.78 -> of going to people's houses and being with them
2792.78 -> and getting rid of that fear.
2796.82 -> When a person passes, that you
2800.82 -> have assisted them on their journey in the afterlife.
2804.82 -> The assistance mostly
2808.82 -> is asking the divine to come in.
2812.82 -> Roger was a man who had end-stage liver cirrhosis from drinking.
2816.82 -> Broken family, broken everything. Fought, fought, fought.
2820.82 -> He was dying. He said,
2824.86 -> I just want help to let this go.
2828.86 -> I want to read you something because it's really pretty.
2832.86 -> Roger held my hand at the bedside late at night
2836.86 -> in the middle of Maine, winter. The wife, Margaret, is over here.
2840.86 -> By the way, I have their permission to talk about this.
2844.86 -> I said, I, Roger, repeat this.
2848.86 -> I, Roger. He said, I, Roger, I forgive myself.
2852.9 -> Basically, that was the gist. He started to
2856.9 -> forgive himself. He started to shake and rattle. He started crying
2860.9 -> uncontrollably and turned to Margaret and said, I am so sorry.
2864.9 -> I was stuck. Now I'm unstuck and I see
2868.9 -> you. What happened next, if you
2872.9 -> don't mind, just a quick poem. This divine
2876.9 -> voice gave me a message for Roger.
2880.94 -> It's called Roger's Prayer.
2884.94 -> It says, out of love you were born, free to create
2888.94 -> and explore this life. Now it is time to return to
2892.94 -> spirit, to love and to peace.
2896.94 -> Forever are you sinless and free of guilt, for I have
2900.94 -> loved you always. The memories of your life
2904.94 -> will end with this body and trouble you no more.
2908.98 -> Your light will shine again because you are still one with me.
2912.98 -> That brought Roger tremendous peace.
2916.98 -> Margaret, tremendous peace. Afterwards he passed away.
2920.98 -> She said, I fell in love with him again, as when I did
2924.98 -> so many years ago. His son came to visit
2928.98 -> a year later and was in the bed and
2932.98 -> the next day he talked to me. He said, my dad came to me last night and I
2937.02 -> could see him. He apologized and he asked my
2941.02 -> forgiveness. I started to cry and accept
2945.02 -> this love. He said, a weight's been lifted because
2949.02 -> I hated my dad. An ancient hatred
2953.02 -> is turned into a present love by an act of forgiveness.
2957.02 -> I hear stuff like that.
2961.02 -> I help people move through their blocks. Very important.
2965.06 -> I have gone into the other side
2969.06 -> and helped people navigate
2973.06 -> in that, I don't know what to call it. I
2974.989 -> call it the etheric realm, the astral realm.
2977.06 -> I'm just not sure. But people get lost
2981.06 -> in there. Especially when it's a traumatic death.
2985.06 -> There's two people. One was an
2989.06 -> 80 year old lady who had a heart attack while she was in town.
2993.1 -> Fortunately she was driving slow. Ran into a telephone pole.
2997.1 -> She was in asystole when she got into the ER.
3001.1 -> So we ran a code, but we called it, stopped it.
3005.1 -> As I started to walk, the family was there
3009.1 -> by then, the minister. I stopped at the head of the bed and I stopped
3013.1 -> and I dissociated and I went into that realm. It's a light
3017.1 -> gray realm. I found her with her head down, crying.
3021.14 -> She says, what happened? What happened?
3025.14 -> I told her the truth, that you were in a car, you had a heart attack, you've died.
3029.14 -> She said, I can't see my family and say goodbye.
3033.14 -> I said, well, maybe you can. Let's ask.
3037.14 -> So we did. I asked on her behalf,
3041.14 -> Divine, can this lady stay for just a little while?
3045.14 -> To be with her family? She did.
3049.18 -> All of a sudden, she's in asystole, her body
3053.18 -> is white, cold. She pinked right up
3057.18 -> and the voice said, she has three days.
3061.18 -> So we transferred her to the ICU and she was able to say
3065.18 -> goodbye to her family and tell them how much they loved each other.
3069.18 -> This is a family that was torn apart by all these family dynamics
3073.18 -> and they all found forgiveness and love and she quietly just
3077.22 -> closed her eyes on day three and they felt the love
3081.22 -> and tenderness of it all. There's more people
3085.22 -> with stories like that, but in the interest of time,
3089.22 -> that's, yes.
3093.22 -> You develop these abilities of the presence, you hear,
3097.22 -> you see, and then the Divine says, will you help me?
3101.22 -> I say, yes. So my new boss is God.
3105.26 -> And I might help people in that manner.
3109.26 -> We think of in Western medicine that it's all about
3113.26 -> in our very materialistic society that it's all about
3117.26 -> the physical body, but you're really demonstrating
3119.578 -> that it goes beyond the physical body
3121.26 -> not only to the mind and consciousness, but also to the spiritual realm
3125.26 -> and that we can receive guidance and support
3129.26 -> in greater ways than we typically are aware of.
3133.3 -> Exactly. And that's really the gist of
3137.3 -> a very big change in concepts that
3141.3 -> God speaks to me all day long. He's always
3145.3 -> with me. Are you willing to listen? And we're taught
3149.3 -> that we're a body, that we have to have a life, make money, get a car,
3153.3 -> get a job, and it's like that's all true in this realm.
3157.3 -> But that's not really who you are. So my analogy
3161.34 -> is your body is a car, and I'm
3165.34 -> not to piss off the doctors or upset the doctors, but I'm
3169.34 -> a glorified auto mechanic. I change the tires, the air filters, change
3173.34 -> the brakes. What I have learned
3177.34 -> is if you'll imagine you are a Divine Spirit,
3181.34 -> you are infinite God consciousness, infinite love.
3185.34 -> That's really who you are. You're the driver and you get into the
3189.38 -> car and you give that car life and the car says,
3193.38 -> I feel great. I think I'm going to go to
3195.309 -> the grocery store today. I think I need gas.
3197.38 -> Oh, I got a flat tire. You see, the car thinks it's alive
3201.38 -> and we think the body is alive. It is in this realm.
3205.38 -> But when you go into the spiritual realm, the body is left behind.
3209.38 -> Your car runs down and breaks down. What do you do?
3213.38 -> You leave it, don't you? And they take it to a junkyard. That's it.
3217.42 -> What do you do? You walk around for a while
3219.376 -> and say, you know, I think I need another car.
3221.42 -> I'm going to try this car instead. And that's what you do.
3225.42 -> So you keep going through these cycles called karma,
3229.42 -> if you will, or reincarnation. It's just a recycling.
3233.42 -> Wouldn't you like to stop and say, I want to remember
3237.42 -> who I truly am, and that is I am the driver of this car.
3241.42 -> This is truly me, a thought of love in the mind of the Divine.
3245.46 -> And now I'm going to go home and leave that body behind.
3249.46 -> I have the choice now to go home or recycle.
3253.46 -> And I think it's a lot of people
3257.46 -> when they really understand that, they choose heaven, they choose peace.
3261.46 -> Now, while I'm here,
3265.46 -> I choose to bring that peace back with me
3269.46 -> and be in this life and let that peace emanate from my heart
3273.5 -> and radiate into this world to bring it peace.
3277.5 -> The love is so powerful, you can't help but say,
3281.5 -> I just want to give this away. I want every single person
3285.5 -> on this planet to feel this love. Because I know when they do,
3289.5 -> they're going to put their guns down. I know
3291.593 -> they're going to take care of each other.
3293.5 -> And we're all going to walk in divine peace and not human peace,
3297.5 -> which breaks and lets us down. Peace treaty only lasts so long.
3301.54 -> And then we're back at it again.
3305.54 -> That is a beautiful vision for all of us to be in peace and how you are describing
3309.54 -> how you've been able to facilitate and help people and receive
3313.54 -> this amazing guidance from how you describe
3317.54 -> as God, that it strikes me as
3321.54 -> very similar, if not the same, as many of these
3325.54 -> ancient traditions of shamanism, where the
3329.58 -> physician is also the spiritual
3333.58 -> guide, or really you seem to be describing
3337.58 -> yourself as perhaps a spiritual healer.
3341.58 -> That's the way I look at it.
3345.58 -> If you have an illness, I don't look at
3349.58 -> the illness. How you got to the illness, I don't care.
3353.58 -> What I do care about is the illness is a thought in your mind.
3357.62 -> What's driving this? You have the power in your mind
3361.62 -> if you change your beliefs from fear-based beliefs to
3365.62 -> love-based beliefs and let that love come into you,
3369.62 -> you can heal, or at least start on the path of healing.
3373.62 -> You might still need medical treatment.
3377.62 -> In my own case, I had three cancers.
3381.62 -> And I had colon cancer, I had kidney cancer, and testicular
3385.66 -> cancer. In all cases, the doctor said,
3389.66 -> you're going to need chemo and radiation, and these are really bad.
3393.66 -> So after these diagnoses of
3397.66 -> these cancers, I had a choice. And my choice was either
3401.66 -> love or fear. Most people choose fear, and they
3405.66 -> go down that track. I chose love.
3409.66 -> I chose to remember that I am a divine being, that I have
3413.7 -> the power within myself to let love flow and
3417.7 -> dissolve this darkness. So that's what happened in all three cases.
3421.7 -> They were healed. I did have
3425.7 -> surgery, I did have the cancers cut out.
3429.7 -> But at that point, since I had chosen love,
3433.7 -> the voice told me, you're all set, you're healed.
3437.7 -> And I knew I was healed. So I didn't do any chemo, I didn't do any
3441.74 -> radiation, I didn't do any follow-up testing. I said, I'm good,
3445.74 -> I'm out of here. And I knew, once I chose love,
3449.74 -> I know, and you will know, that you are healed.
3453.74 -> And the more you accept that, the faster you heal.
3457.74 -> You may yet need some medical treatment, some pills or chemo,
3461.74 -> but your whole perception changes as to one of
3465.74 -> I am going to be fine.
3469.78 -> A positive expectation can work wonders.
3473.78 -> You bring joy and love into it, not
3477.78 -> fear and upset and, oh my god, I'm going to die.
3481.78 -> Well, what if you weren't going to die?
3485.78 -> What if I told you, you can make a choice, and I'll help you
3489.78 -> either way. We can do chemo, radiation, surgery, all that stuff
3493.78 -> and work with you. Or you can say, I'm going to
3497.82 -> start healing.
3501.82 -> And I can give you lots of examples in my own personal life, but that's sort of
3505.82 -> the gist of it, is to take back your power.
3509.82 -> We tend to give our power away to the medical society when we have a problem.
3513.82 -> And I'm saying, give it back, bring it back into you
3517.82 -> and you can start to heal yourself.
3521.82 -> You do that with love, by saying, I am love and I'm going to extend
3525.86 -> my love into this. And if I need chemo, I'm going to have fun with it.
3529.86 -> And have a little party. I've had patients that
3533.86 -> would bring in a cupcake and put a candle on it
3535.903 -> and say, okay, I'm going to enjoy this cupcake
3537.86 -> and my chemo. You see, you bring happiness to this.
3541.86 -> You don't let it take you down and control you
3545.86 -> like, oh, I'm going to get chemo, it's really awful.
3549.86 -> And many times I wouldn't tell people what was wrong with me, certainly with
3553.9 -> kidney cancer and the testicular cancer. I didn't tell anybody.
3557.9 -> Not even my wife. And one day I'm going to
3561.9 -> the hospital. See, I don't want to pick up negative energy.
3565.9 -> I said, I have to go to the hospital for a few days.
3569.9 -> She said, why? Ah, I got kidney cancer.
3573.9 -> Okay, when were you going to tell me?
3577.9 -> But I keep it very private. You see, I don't want
3581.94 -> somebody's fear to be projected onto me.
3585.94 -> So I feel great. I feel great.
3589.94 -> Yeah, that's fantastic. And in your book, you also describe about
3593.94 -> how when you were working with patients that sometimes when they would have
3597.94 -> when you would diagnose them with something
3601.94 -> that you described how you would come back and say to them,
3605.94 -> oh, your condition is actually
3609.98 -> not as bad or it's much better than I originally thought
3613.98 -> and you're going to be just fine. And so I really love how you bring that
3617.98 -> positivity into working with your people,
3621.98 -> your clients, your patients. I find that
3625.98 -> levity, humor is very therapeutic.
3629.98 -> This man came in and he was in a bad car accident, banged up.
3633.98 -> Everybody's running around and I just walked up to him
3638.02 -> and I looked at him and I said, oh,
3642.02 -> they told me you were really in a bad car accident. I said, this isn't bad at all.
3646.02 -> I said, we can fix this and you'll be in the hospital for
3650.02 -> a few days, but then you'll go home. Really?
3654.02 -> Yep, you're fine. I've seen a lot worse.
3658.02 -> Then they relax. Now I can work with them. And every time
3662.02 -> I walk in, I say, yeah, I got the test back. These tests are all
3666.06 -> normal. There's one little fracture here. We're going to deal with that.
3670.06 -> Always bringing in peace, always giving power back
3674.06 -> to the patient. We're not taught that in medicine.
3678.06 -> We're taught that we're the doctor and all that soap opera
3682.06 -> stuff. We're on a soapbox. And I don't do that.
3686.06 -> I treat you like family, like friend.
3690.06 -> And when you think about it, we can
3694.1 -> do so much in medicine. If we put it with a positive attitude
3698.1 -> and I'm relaxed, my patient relaxes.
3702.1 -> The medicines work better.
3706.1 -> It's just a new way of thinking. And we're
3710.1 -> starting in medicine to learn that, to bring in
3714.1 -> compassion and letting patients have power and learning to be
3718.1 -> comfortable in working with somebody.
3722.14 -> Medical science has shown that thoughts and beliefs greatly impact
3726.14 -> a person's health, wellness, and their recovery.
3730.14 -> Absolutely. Another story, if you don't mind.
3734.14 -> This right shoulder, many months ago, I was lifting
3738.14 -> weights and I completely broke it. That was it.
3742.14 -> And I saw the surgeon. He said, Rod, this is such a bad tear.
3746.14 -> He says, I don't think I can fix this. And I said, well, why don't you just try?
3750.18 -> Well, you know, you can't make it any worse.
3754.18 -> And he said, well, okay.
3758.18 -> He said, yeah, I think I'll try. Immediately, I blessed him with love
3762.18 -> and asked for divine guidance to take care of him. And I chose
3766.18 -> to see my shoulder as healed.
3770.18 -> So this is a three-hour surgery. At 55 minutes, he was
3774.18 -> closed. I'm waking up and he's talking to me. He says,
3778.22 -> I can't believe this. That was the easiest surgery that I've
3782.22 -> ever done. I mean, the tear was four inches where you dislocated.
3786.22 -> He said, I put a stitch in. It pulled right back perfectly.
3790.22 -> 55 minutes. He was very happy.
3794.22 -> So I see him in follow-up. And when I left the hospital,
3798.22 -> he said, I hate to tell you this, but it's
3800.197 -> going to be a year before you can really use
3802.22 -> that arm again. And by the way, it's extremely painful.
3806.26 -> Immediately, I denied that thought and I pushed it back.
3810.26 -> I said, I don't accept that. My intention is to be
3814.26 -> healed and this is going to heal
3815.922 -> beautifully. And I'm going to ask the divine
3818.26 -> love and energy to help me. So just
3822.26 -> I'm now six weeks out. And I saw
3826.26 -> my friend, the doctor, and he said, well, how are you doing, Rod?
3830.26 -> I said, I'm doing great. He said, well, let's see. I said, well,
3834.3 -> yeah, I can do this.
3838.3 -> He said, I couldn't do this. He said, that's not possible.
3842.3 -> I sat down. He said, that's not possible.
3846.3 -> He said, how much narcotics are you taking? I said, I didn't take
3850.3 -> any because I decided not to have pain. I don't like pain
3854.3 -> and I don't like narcotics. So I changed my thinking that
3858.3 -> I'm already healed and I'm seeing myself as past
3862.34 -> therapy. And he was amazed at this. He's like
3866.34 -> that can't be. So I'm six weeks out. Wow.
3870.34 -> What an inspiration you are. Thank you. But I want
3874.34 -> to give that to all the people that we're talking to is
3878.34 -> we can start to change our thinking and we can start to heal our life.
3882.34 -> And it doesn't matter if it's a money issue, a relationship,
3886.34 -> it's an upset. And we're going to start to choose love
3890.38 -> and remove the blocks of fear.
3894.38 -> What do you suggest to those who are listening, who are
3898.38 -> really having a tough time in life? There's a lot of
3902.38 -> global warming going on. There are wars going on.
3906.38 -> Of course, there's a lot of good things happening as well. And like you have so
3910.38 -> succinctly illustrated for us today that we can
3914.38 -> be empowered with how we go forward in our lives. What can you suggest to these
3918.42 -> people to be able to choose and really feel love and
3922.42 -> heal their fear? There's several things.
3926.42 -> First, the most important thing is stop thinking.
3930.42 -> Stop reading the news. Stop looking at all
3934.42 -> of this as a problem and disconnect. Learn
3938.42 -> to disconnect a little bit.
3942.42 -> When you do that, that allows love to flow. So I look at
3946.46 -> the war in Russia and the Ukraine.
3950.46 -> Both sides are like little children fighting.
3952.625 -> And what they're really doing is asking
3954.46 -> for love. People have become gunmen and
3958.46 -> shoot in grocery stores. Submarines get
3962.46 -> cracked up and broken. Whatever the situation is,
3966.46 -> learn to be at peace.
3970.46 -> I stop thinking about it. I stop listening to people.
3974.5 -> Create a space for God. And I do that by just relaxing
3978.5 -> and learning to trust. Just get quiet.
3982.5 -> The second thing is you start to learn to listen.
3986.5 -> What does God have to say? If this is really important to you,
3990.5 -> you'll make time for it. And then the third thing
3994.5 -> is just to rest. Start to rest and know that the
3998.5 -> divine is going to take care of everything. I have complete faith in that.
4002.54 -> And I hear global warming and I see wars and this and that.
4006.54 -> And I always say, I choose peace instead of this.
4010.54 -> I choose to relax and I'm going to step back
4014.54 -> and let the divine walk in front of me.
4018.54 -> It takes a lot of practice and meditation is a big help.
4022.54 -> Walking in nature, being in music. Lots of different ways of
4026.54 -> doing this. But if you will, imagine
4030.58 -> you're watching a movie. A three-dimensional movie.
4034.58 -> Star Wars, for example.
4038.58 -> You're in the audience and you think you're in the movie, but you're not.
4042.58 -> You're just a viewer watching the movie
4046.58 -> and you look up above and you see the projector and then you see the film.
4050.58 -> At least in elementary school they had the big reels with the film.
4054.58 -> You realize it's all a movie
4058.62 -> and you can learn to disconnect and say, I choose peace.
4062.62 -> And I look at the insanity of the world
4066.62 -> this is hell and I
4070.62 -> can choose peace. So what I like to do
4074.62 -> is to do a healing meditation where I just get really quiet
4078.62 -> and I just let love flow from the top
4082.62 -> up my heart and it encircles the world in love
4086.66 -> and light. Because guess what? What you give
4090.66 -> as love to the world is what's given back to you. As you give
4094.66 -> so shall you receive. So I look at Putin
4098.66 -> and I say, he needs love. That's a tall order.
4102.66 -> But that's what he needs. And you say, wait a second, he's a five-year-old
4106.66 -> child having temper tantrum. He's in an adult
4110.66 -> body, but that's not really what's going on.
4114.7 -> Are you really going to scold and mistreat a five-year-old
4118.7 -> who can't understand? No, you're going to hold him and love him.
4122.7 -> Putin is crying for love.
4126.7 -> I'm going to love him. I'm going to love the Ukrainians. I'm going to love
4130.7 -> the people that have been tornados. I'm going to love the people who have been shot
4134.7 -> and hurt. It's all cries for loves in different
4138.7 -> languages. I have learned to disconnect from the movie
4142.74 -> walk out of the theater into the sunlight and say, let's bring
4146.74 -> love and light to this darkness.
4150.74 -> That's how you do it. And you start with baby steps
4154.74 -> because we've had so much training in negativity
4158.74 -> and fighting. It's a lot to unlearn.
4162.74 -> Inviting the divine in, whatever you want to call it, Buddha
4166.74 -> Christ, whatever you want to
4170.78 -> call it, it doesn't matter. You just allow love to come in
4174.78 -> and it will teach you and help you to heal these problems.
4178.78 -> Your perception is going to change and you're going to feel tremendous liberation.
4182.78 -> You're going to go, I like this.
4186.78 -> I live in peace.
4190.78 -> Stop thinking is the first thing and then go from
4194.78 -> there. Or at least slow the thoughts down, right?
4198.82 -> Absolutely. It's a proportion. It's practice.
4202.82 -> A little bit of willingness, a little bit of love
4206.82 -> it starts to grow because you're watering love and not
4210.82 -> fear. The choice is always very simple
4214.82 -> love or fear. And fear has thousands of different
4218.82 -> forms, whereas love is just one.
4222.82 -> So it gets real easy. And the nice thing about this test
4226.86 -> is if you chose fear, you learn
4230.86 -> oh, I made a mistake. I get to take the test again
4234.86 -> and I can choose love this time. And boy, doesn't that
4238.86 -> change everything? Because now you're dealing with a new
4242.86 -> perception and a new way of looking at the world.
4246.86 -> I am looking at myself with the eyes of love. I'm looking at you.
4250.86 -> I'm looking at everybody with the eyes of love.
4254.9 -> Guess what? They start to heal. They start to experience miracles and
4258.9 -> blessings. It's one by one we're going to do this.
4262.9 -> And I know there's a lot of people out there helping
4266.9 -> the whole sonship, if you will, all of us to get higher
4270.9 -> in our vibration.
4272.9 -> Whether a person identifies as being religious or spiritual
4276.9 -> they can also move forward in positivity and love.
4282.94 -> Absolutely. I love going to church.
4286.94 -> I love a choir. I like the organ, good music.
4290.94 -> I love a good sermon. In Catholicism I didn't care for
4294.94 -> the negativity and using the
4298.94 -> rosary and putting money in. I had to buy my way.
4302.94 -> No, this is an individual choice. Right now where you're sitting
4306.94 -> is holy ground. You are a divine presence and say
4310.98 -> I put my hands on my heart. I can love myself and I can feel the divine.
4314.98 -> Do you have to go to church? No.
4318.98 -> Do you have to read A Course in Miracles? No. But you do need to get quiet
4322.98 -> and allow love to flow. Well, I can do that.
4326.98 -> Can you sit for five minutes in the morning and just say I'm just going to be love
4330.98 -> and I'm going to love myself. Then I'm going to go on with my day.
4334.98 -> So, I think that churches
4339.02 -> and religions served a very good purpose. It got corrupted
4343.02 -> along the way. Many institutions do. Medicine does.
4347.02 -> We need to say, well, we've got to fix that.
4351.02 -> But let's keep the good. Let's not throw it all out.
4355.02 -> So, if reading the Bible and going to church is your
4359.02 -> pathway, by all means go on it. But realize
4363.02 -> you've got a divine partner helping you.
4367.06 -> What does he have to say? You've got to make time to listen.
4371.06 -> On that note about medicine becoming corrupt, what have your colleagues
4375.06 -> said about your experiences with the spiritual
4379.06 -> and the divine and your psychic abilities?
4383.06 -> Yeah. I didn't tell anybody about this.
4387.06 -> Everybody said, boy, you're really smart.
4391.06 -> And in my mind I would say, no, I know how to listen.
4395.1 -> I never told anybody
4399.1 -> these stories. When I do lectures,
4403.1 -> sometimes the physicians will come up and say, can I talk to you for a minute?
4407.1 -> I've had these experiences. What does that mean?
4411.1 -> Am I going crazy? Am I starting to hallucinate? Am I losing it?
4415.1 -> And I said, no, you're starting to let go and wake up.
4419.1 -> This process called enlightenment is gradual, step by step.
4423.14 -> And you're developing spiritual senses that allow you to hear
4427.14 -> and see and connect. So it's a natural process
4431.14 -> we're all going to go through. In the medical profession,
4435.14 -> we are just starting to touch
4439.14 -> on neuroplasticity and we want to be able to test
4443.14 -> and check this out, check that out. Now we find this subject of
4447.14 -> spirituality. How does that come into it?
4451.18 -> So Rene Descartes, back in the 1500s,
4455.18 -> separated mind and body. God from the body.
4459.18 -> And now we're starting to reconnect.
4463.18 -> And we're starting to hear more and more lectures on spirituality.
4467.18 -> And people in the audience, at one lecture
4471.18 -> it was in Harvard, and we were talking about this.
4475.18 -> They said, well, how many of you have had miracles? And like, a lot of hands went up.
4480.18 -> And they said, how many of you have published it or told your friends? Psst!
4484.18 -> Wow.
4488.18 -> It was surprising. It was almost 25%.
4492.18 -> And it was interesting because you watch the reaction of, okay, I put my hand up.
4496.18 -> And the guy next to me has not had these experiences. He looks at me like,
4500.18 -> there's something wrong with you.
4504.18 -> I think I'm going to move. There's still a lot of resistance
4508.18 -> to this idea. But it's becoming more and more acceptable,
4512.18 -> more and more mainstream. Because people like me,
4516.18 -> other doctors are starting to speak. I had a near-death experience.
4520.18 -> I'm going to talk about it.
4524.18 -> So now it's like baby steps.
4528.18 -> And there's going to be more and more of these episodes
4532.18 -> and more and more of spirituality coming into medicine.
4536.18 -> We were not taught that. We were not taught
4540.18 -> how to help someone leave this world.
4544.18 -> Death means a failure on your part.
4548.18 -> Okay. No.
4552.18 -> The real answer is, can I make this transition very peaceful and smooth?
4556.18 -> You're going to lay down this body, very dense energy, very low vibration,
4560.18 -> and you're going to go to very high vibration and pure love.
4564.18 -> But we're not taught how to do that.
4568.18 -> We're taught, if you've seen this, you're crazy.
4572.18 -> And that's been the way of medicine for all the pioneers.
4576.18 -> It pushed away first, and then eventually,
4580.18 -> I'd love to see medicine in a hundred years.
4584.18 -> So you talked earlier about shamanism.
4588.18 -> That's a lot of what I'm doing, is that technique of
4592.18 -> there's more to life than just this body.
4596.18 -> How can we help you to align your thinking with the divine being that you truly are?
4600.18 -> And the more in line you get, the closer you get,
4604.18 -> and pretty soon, I can't tell where Emmy is and God is.
4608.18 -> All I see is love.
4612.18 -> And you walk in love. You're protected.
4616.18 -> And you're going, it's so easy now.
4620.18 -> You don't have to do this alone.
4624.18 -> This life is hard enough. You don't have to do it alone.
4628.18 -> With the advancements in medicine, there have been more life-sustaining measures
4632.18 -> that you as physicians can take, and therefore, people are having
4636.18 -> more experiences, such as having a near-death,
4640.18 -> where, like you mentioned with some of your stories, a person flatlines,
4644.18 -> but then they come back to life. And these can be great examples
4648.18 -> of how we are more than just our bodies,
4652.18 -> that our consciousness does continue on in the afterlife.
4656.18 -> There are times that there are people who question
4660.18 -> that these phenomena
4664.18 -> of a near-death experience or a shared-death experience
4668.18 -> can simply be because of a hallucination or from a medicine.
4672.18 -> So you as a physician, how do you respond to that?
4676.18 -> The way I look at it, it's like going to sleep.
4680.18 -> And there are several stages of sleep. The deepest is delta.
4684.18 -> Your body is paralyzed. You're barely alive.
4688.18 -> You're barely breathing.
4692.18 -> Now, in near-death experiences, in my experiences,
4696.18 -> my mind didn't go to sleep. I stayed awake.
4700.18 -> And when you do that, you float.
4704.18 -> So however you got there,
4708.18 -> was it drugs? Was it illness?
4712.18 -> Does it matter? You got there. And you had this experience
4716.18 -> of waking up. Your conscious mind
4720.18 -> stayed awake. Your body mind, your human mind
4724.18 -> stayed asleep and went to sleep.
4728.18 -> We had a lady who had a heart attack.
4732.18 -> She's like 40 years old, on the mountains here, hiking.
4736.18 -> And we got her back. And she was very angry
4740.18 -> and said, Why did you bring me back? Why did you...
4744.18 -> It was so beautiful. I was so happy. And now I'm in this body,
4748.18 -> stuck again. Why did you bring me back?
4752.18 -> Well, that's my job. But people, when they have
4756.18 -> these experiences, these transitions,
4760.18 -> or they touch spirituality,
4764.18 -> they're always in a very quiet state.
4768.18 -> The mind, the active thinking, the monkey chatter, has been
4772.18 -> totally suppressed. However you get there, a stroke,
4776.18 -> medicines, it doesn't matter to me.
4780.18 -> What matters is you had the experience, and you touched
4784.18 -> the divine. It goes back to the story
4788.18 -> of the orange. They got to taste the orange, and now they know.
4792.18 -> And whether the orange is brought to them on a silver platter,
4796.18 -> or on a donkey, or I walk them and say, Here!
4800.18 -> How you got there, to me, doesn't matter. What matters
4804.18 -> is afterwards what you did with it, how you
4808.18 -> experience it. Now, the hardcore
4812.18 -> scientists say, I need to measure this, analyze it, figure it out.
4816.18 -> You can't do it. You can't. Because once you cross
4820.18 -> into spirit, you become one with the divine. There is no more body.
4824.18 -> There is no more ego. You are pure love.
4828.18 -> There is no time. There is no space. It's all
4832.18 -> gone. You're unlimited. Your mind is bigger than the
4836.18 -> Milky Way. For people who have a limited mindset,
4840.18 -> they can't understand it. It's truly oil and water.
4844.18 -> It's just, until, unless they really
4848.18 -> want to come see me in the ER, I'll give them a shot, and I'll stop their
4852.18 -> heart, and maybe they can have a near-death experience, and
4856.18 -> go, Now I get it, a hahahaha.
4860.18 -> Rod, thank you so much for all that you've shared with us today. Are there any
4864.18 -> final thoughts you have on your
4868.18 -> psychic and spiritual stories as a doctor?
4872.18 -> I would say to everyone, you are all mystics.
4876.18 -> You all have this capability. It was taken away from you,
4880.18 -> and you think you can't do it. But the truth is, once you learn to
4884.18 -> relax, and let go, and rest, and trust, you're going
4888.18 -> to awaken these spiritual gifts, and you're going to find that you can start
4892.18 -> to heal your life, and heal your mind, and that you can walk in
4896.18 -> peace. Then what's going to happen is you're going to turn around
4900.18 -> and give it to your brother behind you, and you're going to be a benediction to this
4904.18 -> world. So you can all do this. I'm not special.
4908.18 -> It's just practice. It's just love. Letting love flow.
4912.18 -> Very beautiful. Thank you.
4916.18 -> I've thoroughly enjoyed this conversation today. Thank you for everything you've
4920.18 -> shared with us, and I hope we can have more conversations in the future.
4924.18 -> Oh, it'd be fun. It'd be fun. I wish
4928.18 -> everyone well. My blessings of peace to you all. Thank you.
4932.18 -> Thank you for being with us, Rod. And for those of you listening or
4936.18 -> watching, thank you for being with us.
4958.18 -> I imagine that by now
4962.18 -> many of you already realize that, in conjunction
4966.18 -> with White Crow Books, we've just launched the New
4970.18 -> Thinking Allowed Dialogues book imprint. Our first
4974.18 -> title is, Is There Life After Death?
4978.18 -> On June 1st, we just released issue number 2 of the New
4982.18 -> Thinking Allowed quarterly magazine. You can download a free copy
4986.18 -> at the New Thinking Allowed Foundation website, newthinkingallowed.org
