Discover 7 of the worst food for blocked arteries.

1. French Fries. Studies show that consuming french fries can increase your risk of early death, this is thought to be due to the oils they are fried in. This is because these oil contain omega 6 fatty acids. These can be very healthy when eaten in a wholefood form. But when they are heated and exposed to oxygen and light then become rancid. This leads to inflammation which in the arteries can lead to blockages.

2. Instant Noodles. These are extremely high in salt with one packet containing 1722 miligrams. Tis is more than half the daily recommended amount. Having a high intake of salt increases the risk of high blood pressure, in turn increasing the risk of coronary artery disease.

3. Cured Meats. These contain high amounts of sodium as well as a chemical preservatives. These can cause an inflammatory response within the body. This can cause blockages and plaques to build up on the arterial wall.

4. Meat Lovers Pizza. This contains cured meats and the crust is made up of refined flour. Refined flour which contains a starch called amylopectin A. When we digest this starch it’s quickly converted to glucose or sugar in the blood.The glucose is then converted to triglycerides in the liver. Triglycerides enter the bloodstream as something called very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). Then, through a series of steps, leads to the formation of plaque build up in the arteries.

5. Candy; people who eat foods that are high in sugar have an increased risk of: diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and inflammatory conditions.These greatly increase the risk of plaques forming and arteries becoming blocked.

6. Diet Drinks: Studies show people who consume the most of the sweeteners found in diet drinks double their risk of diabetes and abnormal blood lipids. Both huge warning signs of arterial problems.

7. Trans fat; these also known as hydrogenated oil. Trans fats lower your protective HDL cholesterol while raising ldl/bad cholesterol. Not good for heart disease.They also create the smaller, dense type of LDL cholesterol. Some experts now claim this is the most dangerous type for blocked arteries.

53.73 -> This fast food staple has been criticized for creating poor health.
58.16 -> But does the science back this up?
60.38 -> Let's look at the evidence.
61.91 -> According to a study published in 2017 of nearly 4,500 adults “eating french fries
69.21 -> more than twice weekly could double your risk of early death”.
73.78 -> Interestingly the researchers concluded that it’s the oils the potatoes were fried in
79.02 -> that were increasing the health risk—and not the potatoes themselves.
82.19 -> So what’s the problem with the oils?
85.909 -> High-end restaurants and fast food outlets alike use vegetable oils to cook their fries.
90.909 -> These types of oils contain omega 6 fatty acids.
95.14 -> When eaten in a whole food form such as in nuts and seeds, they can be beneficial.
100.54 -> But when exposed to light and very high temperatures, they become rancid and highly inflammatory
106.16 -> in the body.
108.21 -> Inflammation inside the arteries can lead to blockages.
111.65 -> So if you’re using vegetable oils at home or buying products that contain them why not
116.49 -> swap these out for extra virgin olive oil.
119.7 -> This oil has been cold-pressed and is stored in dark bottles so that the omegas fatty acids
125.59 -> don’t go rancid.
127.46 -> There are numerous studies proving the cardioprotective abilities of Olive Oil, including:
132.75 -> lowering inflammation improving the function of blood vessel linings
137.019 -> protecting LDL cholesterol from oxidation, a process that results in the cholesterol
142.529 -> blocking arteries.
144.29 -> helping lower blood pressure All great news for keeping our arteries healthy.
149.799 -> Another issue with fries is the amount of salt found in them.
153.129 -> High salt intake is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
158.379 -> We’ll dive into this in just a minute as our number 6 worst food is another highly
163.76 -> salted food.
165.409 -> Number 6 instant noodles
167.769 -> If you’re in a pinch, instant noodles might seem like the perfect fix.
172.489 -> Pour some boiling water on them and you’re good to go.
175.129 -> But what effect do they have on the health of your arteries?
178.099 -> Well, one packet of instant noodles contains 1,722 mg of sodium.
185.249 -> This is more than half of the daily recommended amount.
188.659 -> And any cardiologist worth their salt would advise their patients to ensure they’re
193.189 -> not overconsuming sodium.
195.719 -> Having high amounts of salt each day is associated with elevated blood pressure.
200.969 -> This increases the risk of developing coronary artery disease.
205.37 -> Having hypertension causes more pressure against the artery walls.
209.909 -> Over time, this added force can damage arteries, leading to bleeds and also blockages
216.829 -> One study that was conducted over 10–15 years found that reducing sodium intake decreased
222.959 -> the risk of a cardiovascular event by up to 30%
227.92 -> Furthermore instant noodles contain an ingredient called Mono Sodium Glutamate or MSG for short.
234.589 -> This is a food additive that improves the taste of otherwise bland foods.
239.54 -> Studies have associated extremely high MSG consumption with weight gain and increased
245.239 -> blood pressure.
246.639 -> Both are bad news for the health of our arteries and cardiovascular system.
251.889 -> On top of this instant noodles provide little nutrition, with low amounts of protein and
257.569 -> fiber.
258.78 -> These macronutrients help give you a feeling of fullness.
262.38 -> With a low amount of these in your diet, you’re more likely to overeat and become overweight.
267.86 -> Plus not eating enough fiber is associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
272.639 -> Now we’re about to learn how preservatives can affect the health of our arteries.
278.24 -> Let's look at our Number 5 cured meats...
281.11 -> A few slices of turkey or ham in a sandwich can seem like a healthy lunch.
286.789 -> But many health experts warn that cured meats are some of the worst for heart health.
291.389 -> But why is this?
293.18 -> Firstly cured meats tend to be extremely high in sodium, which you now know can have a negative
298.55 -> impact on your blood pressure and arteries.
301.81 -> The American Heart Association says that six thin slices of deli meat can contain half
307.759 -> the daily recommended level of sodium.
310.78 -> Plus one hotdog contains approximately 20 % of the recommended daily intake, and that’s
316.949 -> without the sauce and the bread.
319.27 -> Secondly cured meats normally contain chemical preservatives.
323.4 -> The issue with this is that it creates an inflammatory response within the body.
328.469 -> When this occurs, blockages and plaques start to build upon the arterial wall.
333.81 -> One particular preservative used in cured meats is sodium nitrate.
338.62 -> Researchers who analyzed data from 1988 to 1994 taken from The Third National Health
344.61 -> and Examination Survey concluded that nitrates in the form of a preservative lead to hypertension.
351.969 -> Next up is food with plenty of cured meats could also send your blood sugar levels soaring.
356.68 -> our Number 4 worst food for blocked arteries is Meat Lovers Pizza,
361.979 -> When it comes to takeaway, pizza seems like the perfect option.
365.94 -> Friday night hits and no one wants to make dinner so why not order a pizza right?
370.719 -> This type of pizza is not only loaded with cured meat but is highly processed with very
375.449 -> little nutrition.
377.289 -> This brings me to the problem with processed flour.
380.379 -> When we eat food made from processed flour whether it be noodles, bread or pizza it dramatically
386.629 -> spikes blood sugar.
387.729 -> So what has this got to do with blocked arteries you might be asking?
392.03 -> Well, these types of processed carbohydrates contain a starch called amylopectin A. When
398.99 -> we digest this starch it’s quickly converted to glucose or sugar in the blood.
403.96 -> The glucose is then converted to triglycerides in the liver.
408.719 -> Triglycerides enter the bloodstream as something called very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).
413.699 -> Then, a series of steps leads to the formation of plaque build-up in the arteries.
420.219 -> This explains why diabetics have such an increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.
425.58 -> As diabetes is a condition where blood sugar is dangerously elevated.
430.699 -> Further to this white flour is highly addictive.
433.219 -> Eating foods that are made from processed flour causes our brain to release feel-good
438.219 -> hormones.
439.319 -> This creates a feeling of pleasure.
441.389 -> The brain then wants to get another hit of feel-good hormones.
444.85 -> So it looks for more food to get the same hit again.
448.02 -> Hence why it can be hard to stop eating these refined types of foods.
452.46 -> A vicious cycle then begins with weight gain, high blood sugar, high triglycerides, and
458.539 -> before you know it your arteries are suffering.
461.259 -> My number 3 might not come as a surprise now that I’ve mentioned the devastating effect
466.24 -> high blood sugar can have on our cardiovascular health.
469.729 -> We’ll get to that in just a minute
471.34 -> But It’s time to let you in on a world of knowledge about heart disease and nutrition.

522.38 -> To get these two free gifts all you’ve got to do is click the link below
525.87 -> Our Number 3 is Candy
528.39 -> For decades saturated fat was branded as the biggest dietary cause of heart disease.
534.07 -> But scientists are now saying that refined carbohydrates and simple sugars may be more
538.69 -> of a threat.
540.149 -> A 2016 report published in the medical journal JAMA uncovered that studies funded by the
546.07 -> sugar industry were largely responsible for pushing the belief that saturated fat was
551.66 -> responsible for heart disease.
554.12 -> Hence why an increasing number of cardiologists are advising patients to avoid added sugar
559.839 -> rather than saturated fats.
562.26 -> The issue is that people who eat foods that are high in sugar have an increased risk of:
567.23 -> Diabetes
568.23 -> Obesity
570.079 -> Hypertension
571.139 -> Inflammatory conditions
572.73 -> These greatly increase the risk of plaques forming and arteries becoming blocked.
577.52 -> A study conducted over 15-years compared people's intake of added sugar and the mortality from
583.88 -> heart disease.
584.88 -> It found those who got 17% to 21% of their calories from added sugar had a 38% higher
591.86 -> risk of dying from cardiovascular disease compared with those who consumed 8% of their
597.36 -> calories as added sugar.
599.21 -> Dr. Hu who conducted the study said “"Basically, the higher the intake of added sugar, the
605.44 -> higher the risk for heart disease,"
608.089 -> Seems like a good reason to put the candy down if you ask me.
612 -> You might now be wondering what about sweetened foods or drinks that are sugar-free?
616.38 -> And that brings me to my number 2 worst food for blocked arteries and that is diet drinks.
622.55 -> Research shows that there appears to be no benefit in choosing artificially sweetened
626.449 -> drinks over sugary beverages for heart health.
630.279 -> One study followed 2,564 individuals for ten years.
635.62 -> It showed; those who drank diet soda daily increased their risk of stroke by 48% and
642.089 -> vascular disorders by 61% compared to those who did not drink diet soda.
647.6 -> But why is this?
650.16 -> Scientists have found that artificial sweeteners have negative metabolic effects much the same
655.04 -> as sugar.
656.339 -> They can:
657.339 -> Cause weight gain
658.37 -> Effect blood sugar
660.31 -> Impact the health of the gut
662.13 -> and can cause abnormally high levels of insulin.
665.41 -> All of these can increase inflammation and therefore the risk of blocked arteries.
671 -> Studies show people who consume the most of these sweeteners double their risk of diabetes
675.87 -> and abnormal blood lipids.
678.29 -> Both are huge warning signs of arterial problems.
681.029 -> Now we’re about to reveal how one type of fat can significantly increase the risk of
685.87 -> blocked arteries.
687.019 -> Our number one food to avoid is “trans fats”
691.889 -> Trans fats are also known as hydrogenated oils.
694.899 -> These have been banned in the US and other western countries.
698.54 -> But they're still finding their way into certain foods.
701.87 -> This is because food manufacturers are still allowed to use them if it’s less than 0.5
706.519 -> of a gram per serving.
708.509 -> However the amount of trans fat can build up in the body, and we suggest avoiding any
713.5 -> food that contains them.
715.81 -> Studies show that for every 2% of calories from trans fat consumed daily, the risk of
720.97 -> heart disease rises by 23%.
724.769 -> Trans fats lower your protective HDL cholesterol while raising LDL/bad cholesterol.
730.899 -> Not good for heart disease.
732.43 -> They also create the smaller, dense type of LDL cholesterol.
737.56 -> Some experts now claim this is the most dangerous type for blocked arteries.
742.36 -> Sadly on a standard blood lipid test, the amount of this type of small LDL is not measured.
748.529 -> Some cardiologists are now saying that a particle size test, that shows the amount of small
753.41 -> LDL cholesterol is more predictive of cardiovascular disease.
757.97 -> They claim that smaller LDL cholesterol is more prone to oxidation causing it to damage
763.88 -> the lining of blood vessels.
766.91 -> Cardiologist Jack Wolfson says that
768.32 -> “The more particles you have (and the smaller they are) the greater the chances they can
773.029 -> crash into arterial walls”
776.29 -> Numerous studies support this conclusion.
778.36 -> For example, a 2001 study found “those with the highest amount of LDL particles had 4
785.2 -> times the risk of a heart attack in comparison to those people with the lowest amount”.
790.35 -> So one of the key ways to keep our LDL particles healthy and avoid blocked arteries is to keep
795.94 -> trans fats out of the diet.
797.529 -> They can be found in foods such as microwavable popcorn, cereals, ready-mix cake mixtures,
804.779 -> and cookies.
806.089 -> So be sure to read the ingredients if you do buy any packaged foods.
810.79 -> That concludes our 7 worst foods for blocked arteries!
