Exercising & Hypertension

Brian Betancourt, Exercise Physiologist at Baptist Health South Florida, explains exercise helps with hypertension if you consistently exercise. “Exercise one time it’s not gonna help your blood pressure except for that one time, because it uses steroids which is a hormone that relaxes the arteries,” he says.

He also explains the systolic blood pressure is the top number and the diastolic blood pressure is the bottom number. He recommends walking 30 or 45 minutes, then go home, relax and take your blood pressure, you will see the numbers go down.
