What are the causes of Coronary Artery Disease? | Dr. Debasis Mitra

The Coronary Arteries in the heart carry blood and in turn oxygen, to the heart and other parts of the body. When there is plaque formation it interrupts this blood flow by hardening and narrowing the Arteries leading to Coronary Artery Disease. The symptoms include shortness of breath and severe chest pain (or Angina). An ECG, blood test and Angiography can help in detecting and confirming the disease.

Dr. Debasis Mitra, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiology, talks about the structure of the heart, functions of arteries and causes of Coronary Artery Disease. He advised the patients to get treated immediately to avoid further medical complications.

.54 -> [Music]
.82 -> hi friends I'm doctor diversity Victor
.13 -> I'm walking in the winner-take-all
.59 -> international institute of cardiac
.06 -> sciences go gotta fall of the 18 years
.939 -> since the inception of the hospital I'm
.119 -> walking in the capacity of senior
.16 -> interventional cardiologist as well in
.98 -> the capacity of faculty senior faculty
.949 -> in DnB cardiology course which is a
.1 -> national level course today I want to
.37 -> discuss about common cardiac diseases
.39 -> especially the coronary heart disease
.44 -> let me tell you that heart consists of
.379 -> you know ventricles
.8 -> atriums vessels different chambers but
.699 -> let me tell you the disease may set in
.789 -> different areas of the heart it may be a
.01 -> disease of the muscle it may be a
.3 -> disease of the pericardium in every
.07 -> disease of the vessel but the commonly
.8 -> conically a known disease heart disease
.89 -> is actually the involvement of the
.19 -> coronary arteries what are the coronary
.35 -> arteries these coronary arteries
.299 -> basically there are three numbers and
.54 -> these two coronary arteries they supply
.21 -> the cardiac muscle let me tell you
.43 -> gentlemen that actually we have three
.13 -> types of muscle in the body one is a
.619 -> skeletal muscle which is attached to the
.479 -> bones second the smooth muscle
.85 -> for example the smooth muscle which
.47 -> formed the wall of the stomach the wall
.78 -> of the urinary bladder this boot muscle
.729 -> doesn't have the function of their own I
.25 -> mean the skeletal muscle their voluntary
.649 -> muscles and the third specialized muscle
.509 -> is actually the cardiac muscle now every
.02 -> muscle every muscle either living organ
.369 -> which needs its food to survive and what
.409 -> is the food the food is oxygen and that
.38 -> comes through blood who is going to
.509 -> carry the blood hemoglobin how it will
.489 -> be carried it will be carried via the
.34 -> coronary arteries leads to coronary
.47 -> arteries one on the right side the other
.72 -> on the left side supply the muscles of
.269 -> the heart this is the right coronary
.769 -> artery and this left coronary artery
.959 -> divides into two branches you can see
.15 -> the picture they also
.319 -> in the circumflex artery and also the
.43 -> left and garrisoning artery so
.629 -> essentially there are three coronary
.7 -> arteries we can tube-like structures to
.43 -> run on the surface of the heart and
.879 -> supply to the branches into the muscle
.87 -> now when these coronary arteries there
.129 -> they have their own lumen inside the
.079 -> tube so these women is interrupted after
.76 -> the formation of plaques which occludes
.329 -> the coroner is the blood flow is
.7 -> interrupted into the muscle and when the
.15 -> blood flow is interrupted in the range
.65 -> the muscle theories the patient
.159 -> complains of shortness of breath severe
.859 -> chest pain while in work sometimes
.769 -> impressed
.31 -> we call that angina and when that is a
.239 -> symptom the patient has to present to
.76 -> the doctor and the doctor immediately
.31 -> starts evolution to the standard
.47 -> investigation known as ECG
.099 -> echocardiography blood tests and the
.519 -> definitive case is known as coronary
.099 -> angiography the coronary angiography is
.159 -> actually the guilt agent golden taste
.889 -> for confirmation of the diagnosis of
.29 -> coronary artery disease in our next
.139 -> presentation will detail on coronary
.479 -> angiogram thank you very much
.62 -> you
